With having 3.5 years of therapy, I have worked hard at lowering my expecations. Mothers can be mercilessly demanding on themselves. Many mothers strive to meet the hightest standards and expectations of their role only to feel guilty for failing to be the perfect mother, partner, relation, friend, worker, housekeeper, dieter and citizen. At a time in our lives when we need support and compassion, we criticise ourselves.
